As I told you guys, I have segregated the ‘Nail Art Basic’ into three based on my understanding of their functionality. They are :
- Nail Art Tools
- Nail Art Accessories
- Special Nail Polish
Today I will discuss about the Crackle Nail paint or Shatter Nail Paint or Cracking Nail Paint which falls under the category of Special Nail Polish. To begin with Cracking Nail Art is more of a magic polish than nail art, so maybe there is nothing much as an artist to do there. But yes, you can contribute to the looks by choosing colors wisely. All leading nail paint brands have launched their ‘Crackle Nail Paint’ variants and they are a huge hit :). I think there are two reasons for it
- Firstly, you don’t have to be a nail art expert to get the crackle effect. All you have to do is just apply it.
- Secondly, the random effect it gives is difficult to replicate by artwork 😦
Whats is a Crackle Nail Paint?
It is a Nail Polish which imparts special crackle or shatter effect on simple application. All you need to do is apply a contrast regular nail polish, allow it to dry and apply the crackle nail paint on them like any regular polish. As soon the crackle nail paint starts to dry up beautiful random cracks start to appear. You can peep through these cracks, seeing he regular base polish. This hide and seek effect is what makes crackle nail polish a special effect polish :). You just need to apply a top coat over it to give shine and life to the effect.
How does Crackle Nail Polish Work?
If you notice, the crackle nail paints are thicker in consistency and they dry immediately. Yes, there lies the catch. Due to formulation of these nail paints, they dry out very quickly and they shrink at random places while drying. This is what gives birth to the cracks 🙂
Where to Buy Crackle Nail Paints?
Well, finding crackle nail paints isn’t very difficult. There are various well known brands selling them with option of lots of colors. To name a few we have OPI, Sally Hansen, China Glaze, ColorBar, Barry M, Miss Claire, Oriflame etc . Out of these few can be easily procured in India also (both retail and online). I have used Miss Claire which I bought from Beauty Center at Rs 150 last year. They are very good. The other alternatives are comparatively expensive but the time when I bought mine, there were barely any alternatives. If you do not access to Beauty Centre, Mumbai the other brands may be priced from Rs 400 onwards.
You could chose to buy from BornPrettyStore at around $5 and if you do so do not forget to use the coupon code HQBQ10 to get additional 10% off. BornPretty Store is a hub of affordable nail art supplies.
I hope this helps at least few to understand what is a cracking nail paint and where to buy them. I shall be sharing my nail art using the crackle nail paint in my coming posts which should throw more light on what effects to expect 🙂
